Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo

Ballet is an art form based on tradition, on the ideals of technique, athleticism and gracefulness that have been meticulously perfected over the years. Stereotypes abound in the world of ballet, and Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo defy every one, yet never fail to thrill.

Luxembourg audiences will delight in this troupe's return to the Grand Théâtre, and on leaving this performance are guaranteed to experience a sensation of pure joy.

Founded in 1974 by a group of ballet enthusiasts for the purpose of presenting a playful, entertaining view of traditional, classical ballet in parody form and en travesti. "The Trocks", as they are fondly known, form a company of professional male dancers performing the full range of the ballet and modern dance repertoire, including classical and original works in faithful renditions of the manners and conceits of those dance styles. Comedy is achieved by incorporating and exaggerating the foibles, accidents and underlying incongruities of serious dance.

» This is the funniest night you'll ever have at the ballet, but, weirdly, also one of the most poignant. The Guardian, Judith Mackrell
