Internationale Tanzmesse NRW (Germany)
Luxembourg represented in Avignon and Recklinghausen
In order to promote the Luxembourgish theatre abroad, the THEATER FEDERATIOUN supports every year one stage play at the Festival “OFF” in Avignon. This year, we open up to the german festival market as well, by supporting a creation at the "Fringe Festival", part of the traditional "Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen”.
Both the “OFF” and the “Fringe”, which take place at the same time as their traditional counterparts, are alternative festivals with forms of theatre that are more spontaneous, innovative and multidisciplinary, literally at the “border” of conventional theatre.
This year, the THEATER FEDERATIOUN has nominated the play “Luxtime – Jacques Tati revisited”, produced by the TNL (Théâtre National du Luxembourg) and directed by Laura Schroeder, to represent Luxembourg in
Avignon from 8th to 31st of July. “‘Luxtime’ has convinced the members of the THEATER FEDERATIOUN because of its innovative character, its variety of artistic expressions (theatre, film, pantomime, live music) and its subject that we think will be of interest for both a Luxembourgish and French audience.” (Serge Tonnar, President of the THEATER FEDERATIOUN)

The first Luxembourgish play to be shown in the Fringe-tent from 1st to 6th of June, selected by the THEATER FEDERATIOUN and the Ruhrfestspiele
Recklinghausen, is “Bombsong” by the german playwright Thea Dorn. The monodrama about the inner life of a female suicide attacker, portrayed by Sascha Ley under the direction of Frédéric Frenay, is produced by MASKéNADA and the Théâtre d’Esch.
The press promises “A breathtaking rideon a bomb, at full speed ”.
