The THEATER FEDERATIOUN is the Luxembourgish federation of professional theatres. It unites all the professional theatres, ensembles and some cultural centres of Luxembourg. From the one-man show via the luxembourgish centre of choreography to the country's largest venue – its 18 members reflect the diversity of the Luxembourgish theatre landscape.
Since its foundation in 1996, the THEATER FEDERATIOUN defends the interests of the theatre professionals and considers as its main mission the promotion of theatre and dance in Luxembourg.
Promotion of the programs
The monthly theatre magazine “THEATER” presents the current program of all the theatres.
Promotion of careers and training in the field of theatre
Every year the THEATER FEDERATIOUN attends the “Foire de l’Etudiant” (students fair), where students can get an insight into the world of theatre by collecting informative literature, watching short films an getting into contact with theatre and dance professionals.
Promotion of the Luxembourgish theatre abroad
Every year the THEATER FEDERATIOUN supports one stage play at the Festival Off in Avignon and will in the future also participate in the “Fringe Festival”, the festival for interdisciplinary productions at the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen.
Sensibilise the public
Every two years, the THEATER FEDERATIOUN invites to the “TheaterFest” (theatre festival), a day in honor of the Luxembourgish theatre and dance and its audience, a festival where the two sides of the curtain meet. Alternatively to the "TheaterFest", actions and exhibitions are organized outside the theatre walls every two years.
The “Gëllene Renert” of the THEATER FEDERATIOUN rewards the theatre public. As a kind of “Oscar” gone to the audience in the category “best theatre critic”, the little golden fox now travels through the theatres and waits for the public to discover him. The reward for the public are free tickets.
TheatreArchives
Currently, the THEATER FEDERATIOUN pursues one big projet, which is the set-up of Luxembourgish theatre archives. The theatre patrimony created over the decades is being registered in both a digital and material way and shall be open to the public.
International
The THEATER FEDERATIOUN is member of Pearle*, the Performing Arts Employers Associations League Europe and of the International Theatre Institut (ITI).
